Hi, I want my new headphones to sound the best possible. When I built my PC I bought an HT Omega Claro Plus+ (http://htomega.com/claroplus.html) and it's been great for me so far. For these headphones though, do I need to get an external amp/dac like the Fiio E17? Or would I not notice the difference? Would it also be worth it to upgrade to the Claro Halo? (http://htomega.com/clarohalo.html) Or would that be a negligible difference?

Generally external DAC/Amp combo will yield you great results. I'm not sure how well your current rig would fair with them as I've never listened to them before. The O2 Reference and is a very good amp and would easily power your denon 2000s. This amp easily competes with much more expensive amps.

I've heard many great things about the O2 and I've been considering getting it. I've also read some worrying things about my Claro Plus+ soundcard that make me think maybe it would be worth skipping external dac/amp and just get an essence st or stx? I figure I could sell my current soundcard, but would the purchase (ST which I've heard sounds better is ~200 on newegg) be worth it in terms of boost of sound quality?
