The thing that really blows my mind is that they spending hundreds of millions on advertising every year to convince people to buy their crappy burgers. Wouldn't it make more sense to just improve the food quality? Dispense with half the advertising agencies and the dollar-menu discounting schemes (which the franchisees universally loathe). It doesn't take an MBA to realize that on burger quality they're not competitive with any of the other fast-food places.

This seems to be a symptom of how too many people do business these days: spending money convincing people to buy a crappy product instead of just providing a decent one.

Heheh, the same can be said for certain "hifi" audio companies.....

ah man i really hate those fast food venders. they make their product seem so good and tempting, and then when you actaully get to eat the burger it's like a total POS. McD's could use that money spent on marketing to actually inprove their food. that would attract much more customers.

I find the "lifelong" part a bit ironic and funny at the same time...

Me? Nah, I never really liked them. The only good sandwiches they ever had were the Arch Deluxe (yes, I actually liked it) and the sausage McMuffin. The rest are not very good.

I'm a complete fast food junkie thanks to my job. And not just any fast food, the worst kind: mall food

Working in a mall is bad for your health, that's for sure.

Anyone with me?

That advertising campaign seems to be worldwide. It's here in HK as well.

Eating only burgers sucks....man, I can't help, but I Hong Kong is the city of food, thousands of restaurants, plenty of cuisines: chinese (many styles), japanese, vietnamese, thai, malayasian, korean, indian, french, portugese, italian, greek,.....and moreover the quality is very good.

And you can still visit McDonald's.....

the ad i can't stand is the hyperactive soccer mom spazing out in the front seat of her suv, because "mcdonalds makes her slow the car down" while her two sluggish bundles of lard lol in the back seat.

as for the food, i'll have a big mac once in a long while, but i don't really trust any food that smells the same going in as coming out.

I have noticed in the past that the quality varies greatly from one franchise to another. I've never had a grease issue at any of the ones I went to.

The ad campaign is quite annoying to me. But it doesn't affect my desire to go to Worm Burger (my name for McDonalds), since I hardly ever go there anymore.

I haven't been to a worm burger in quite a long time. I prefer the other fast food chains for my weekly dose of artery clogging material (food?).

I don't much care for McDonalds.

Their ad campaign is silly. Do they think playing horrid music and using a slogan that insults my intelligence is going to make me go there? No, it makes me go to wendys, which is one of the better fast-food places. They don't spend nearly as much advertising and have better food. Or sometimes I go to Chik-Fil-A at the mall. Excellent chicken. Not the 'blender meat' you usually see.

But, McDonalds still has Shamrock Shakes, which should be offered year-round.

I don't go there much. WIthin 5 minutes drive time of McDonalds is Wendys and Fuddruckers, which makes excellent burgers, which, although nto fast food, has fast service, good prices, and burgers with meat on them.

I've been to In-N-Out once (Don't see many on east coast) and it was very good. Better than Wendys, but not as good as fuddruckers.
