I've built an external battery-pack for the iRiver iHP-series.
The battery-holder is from Radio Shack and the four NiMH batteries
are from haehnel (1.25 V / 2350 mAh).

I've modified the holder and replaced the two cords against an DC-connector wiring.
See under WERKSTATT on site

In the first test I've charched the empty iHP-battery. It tooks about 3 hrs.
Everything runs fine and with no problems.
The offload-voltage of the battery-back is 6.2 V and it drops down to exact 5 V when
the pack is plugged to the iHP.
Next I will test the running-time. Full iHP battery and full battery-pack.
I think the iHP runs more than 24 hrs.
I contacted Belkin and asked them if they are thinking to built
an battery-pack for the iHP like they have done for the iPod.
Now I'm waiting for the answer.
cheers
