I've been listening to music with my new HIP DAC 2, and I am quite impressed so far. I do find the xbass feature to add too much bass in some music however. I've tried using Wavelet to adjust EQ, but it doesn't seem to do anything, which was not the case when using the S9 Pro. Is there a way to get an EQ working?

This would be the question to the author of that app, but can you tell us a bit more when you hear its eefects and when not?

I've tried multiple apps, even the native EQ settings on my Samsung S21 do nothing. This is when playing through Tidal.

When connecting to my phone, tidal asks for permission. It did not do this with the Hidizs S9 Pro, so evidently, the HIP DAC 2 is completely bypassing the android system, yet the EQ apps are only functioning with the system, and not the DAC

It would seem so, yes. Can you please open up a ticket at our support platform here?

I bought UAPP, and I can use eq as long as bit perfect isn't enabled. I'm one who would prefer eq over pure MQA sound...I really don't think the increased quality is noticeable, at least for equipment that is not top of the line.

My only issue is that the UAPP interface isn't great, and can't access Tidal offline. I may just end up dropping Tidal and downloading FLAC files onto my phone

That would be one way to do it, although not particularly convenient if you like streaming.

OK, so Wavelet works as long as UAPP has control over your smartphone's audio?

Definitely UAPP is superb for EQ and hires audio generally.
Ifi hip DAC is by their own admission a warm sounding DAC.
I was disappointed to see the version 2 not having 2 levels of bass boost.
The original Hip was too bass boomy for me using their xbass and I was hoping they'd address this via 2 levels of boost.
Seems unfortunately not.
But I'm quite sure using UAPP and Bass adjustments you'll get to a level that you'll enjoy.
It's a great App and the Dev (Davey) is superb at assisting if needed

I am enjoying it, except for the inability to use downloaded tidal content, and the fact that it asks to use the DAC EVERY time

Did you ever get the Hip Dac to work with an EQ? I can't get USB audio pro or any other EQ to work, either. Seems like the HipDac bypasses eq. I'm using an android phone 📱.

It was some time ago, but I definitely had no issue using the Hip DAC with UAPP.
UAPP does provide a list of all supported devices btw and the Developer is very good at addressing mails.
I use my older LG V30 now with my TheBit Opus #11 for added volume when needed.
When my LG Wing moved from Android 10 to 11 the phone does not see the external DAC anymore, so I went back my LG V30 which still works beautifully.
