My new Google Pixel 8 does not see the xDSD when I try to pair them up, what could be the problem? Thanks.

Should it flash blue in pairing mode?
To pair a new device, it will blink blue and red. Blue just means it’s waiting for a connection with an existing device.Should it flash blue in pairing mode?
If you hold the Bluetooth icon button for 3 seconds, I believe you can make it go into pairing mode.

It did work but how come the sound can be this bad compared to when I connect it to Lg V10 or v60? It is really disappointing how the source device can have this much impact on the sound output. I thought Xdsd's DAC would handle the digital signal

Not sure what you’re saying. I’ve had two xdsds and love the sound they produce. It did work but how come the sound can be this bad compared to when I connect it to Lg V10 or v60? What I am saying is that I love its sound through the Lg phones. Even the two Lg phones have different sound signatures through the xDsd and I prefer V10 to v60, and the Pixel 8's sound through the xDsd is horrible. What is the science behind this?

If it's Bluetooth your referring too, perhaps making sure you are using the best available from your device. What I am saying is that I love its sound through the Lg phones. I'm no Bluetooth guru but if it's Android you can go into developers options and select which you want, I always liked LDAC. There is also an app called Bluetooth Codec Manager which may help.
Cheers!!

This device is all about Bluetooth for me. Cleaner and punchier than headphone out of Lg V10 but pixel 8's Bluetooth output is really disappointing.
Does xsd had LDAC now?

No it doesn't. So, it cannot be about chosing LDAC.

I remember reading people saying they were using Sony wm1z or similarly high priced daps for their bt device, now I understand they have a point.

I do not know what is happening with your xdsd (I have it but not using much with Bluetooth nowadays) but my xcan plays with Bluetooth from TV just fine. It is only AAC whereas the new amazon fire stick 4K max can also play LDAC probably (I do not know if the fire stick can give AAC or reverts in the simplest format) and still sounds amazing for movies better than my earstudio that uses LDAC.
My Bluetooth xdsd was playing great when I was using it in the past but always I prefer the usb connection because I find it so much better.
If yours play completely distorted then there is problem somewhere. The quality should be very good otherwise maybe not so good like gryphon that has ldac but this only if you have android because iPhone uses AAC all the time so no real advantage there.
