Well the regular xDSD is on the way. If all goes well, I'll pick up the Gryphon later. This is kind of a test run lmao.

but the Vision EXT sounds better with xboost and x space

Sure, these features are there to apply them as you please and I'm happy to read that they're working out great for you, thanks!

Well first impressions are, unsurprisingly, amazing. This thing sounds awesome. I admit I'm MILDLY disappointed that the older model I have only uses aptX but (and this is a big chubby but) I don't believe it's a significant difference and if anything just gives me a reason to keep an eye on the Gryphon. I'm using it plugged in right now with the HiFiMan XS and it needs the volume up a ways to push them (into the yellow) but it sounds fantastic so... yeah. I am pleased.

EDIT: Update, I am no longer pleased. This fella is extremely temperamental with switching modes. On several occasions after unplugging it from desktop mode (turning it off fully before unplugging anything), turning it back on in Bluetooth mode just doesn't work. When the audio starts it makes a small "ftz" sound and then there's nothing. The only way I've been able to reliably get it to work is to fully unpair/re-pair every time I want to use it wirelessly.

I'll give it a few more days but if this continues to be the pattern I may have to return it.

Update, I'm actually tempted to keep the thing just for desktop use because the XBass/3D+ combo makes the Grado Hemp sound pretty incredible lol

Hi all, i'm late to the table picking up an XDSD, but managed to grab a refurbished unit direct from IFI as they had an additional discount at Black Friday which made it a nice deal. For me it was an upgrade from the original Hip Dac which I've been using and really liking for the past couple years. As I'm mainly using IEMs, I always found that with the Hip Dac I had the volume pot quite low, so I was either getting channel imbalance issues or the listening a little bit louder than I was comfortable with. The way the volume works of the XDSD solved that which is great!

Straight away i'm noticing a very different sound profile with the XDSD, much more detailed and spacious. I would say however that I was slightly disappointed with the Xbass setting. I don't notice a massive difference with it on or off, whereas with the HipDac, the bass feature was extremely pronounced. Could anyone comment on whether the subtlety of the Xbass feature is on XDSD is normal? I guess I'm just trying to rule out whether it could be a fault.

Other than this I am really enjoying it, everything else is a clear step on from what I am used to. The BT implementation is very impressive. I think it would struggle to tell it apart from the wired mode in a blind test!

I still have it in my mind that the Gryphon is the product I really want, but I feel I got such a bargain that i'm happy for now!

I cannot get the xdsd to work in bt mode. Been trying all day. The unit has never been paired via bt.

From the manual, and specifically what doesn’t work on my unit:

”If a stored device is not found, it will automatically enter pairing mode (INPUT: Blue/Red blinking).”
