Since you're offloading the DAC/Amp onto the xDSD, literally anything.
It seems to want to be in line out mode when I connect spdif cable; any suggestions to get back the volume knob control?
Hi all,
I'm thinking of purchasing a DAP to use as a transport with my xDSD. Fiio M6 seems to fit my needs, in that it supports offline Qobuz and Tidal, including MQA to an xDSD, I think?
Does anybody have experience of this pairing, if so, how well does it work?
Or any other other DAP recommendations?
I have no experience of this kind of device in recent years, so forgive me if I'm being niave, but I understood that DAPs supporting offline mode for Qobuz and Tidal were limited to Android (but I guess iPod touch would also work). Do all of the DAPs made now run on Android and have these apps, and do they all have digital outputs which avoid the resampling that my phone does?Since you're offloading the DAC/Amp onto the xDSD, literally anything.
It's my desktop AND my mobile setup now. Thank you iFi. It's a bluetooth Mojo, essentially.
The version I got still had the MicroUSB instead of USB-C, which I suspect doesn't matter beyond the charging port

Excellent! There's no difference other than sockets![]()
Excellent!
Sound aside (because it's amazing and I don't feel the need to keep banging on about that), reviews kept talking about how the controls are confusing and... huh? No they're not. I got it yesterday and haven't had any issues. The ONLY thing I'm not a fan of is that you have to turn the thing off to switch from wired to wireless. That feels strange to me. I wish there was some kind of "on-the-fly" mode switch.
But like I said, it's basically everything I wanted out of the old Chord Mojo and I love the thing. Does the finish pick up fingerprints? Yeah, but they wipe off easily enough. This device is flawless for those of us with un-demanding headphones.
I did putter with the 3D/XBass a bit and I'll say throwing the XBass on the Hemp definitely makes these fellas bump with hip-hop, which is not something one often says with Grado so goddam. Good job, iFi, now I'm eyeballing the Pro iDSD as my "dream" piece if I ever get some summit-fi headphones again. I guess it's a good thing we're getting that stimulus check...
The xDSD really feels like a perfect "all in one" for anyone who isn't running some mega difficult to drive headphones. And you bet this thing rides shotgun when I'm in the car lolThanks for the suggestions!
Glad it's exceeding your expectations otherwise, especially with the Hemp! I love it with my SR80e, a huge ball of Grado fun.
It's funny, since I'm mainly an IEM guy - the xDSD has been very loved in my house even though I have the Pro iDSD as well! Also use it in my car as well so it's been getting a ton of love between my time portable and on the go driving.
Well after one day, it's no longer recognized over USB. No response whatsoever. Cannot get any of my USB ports to recognize it. Fun times.![]()
I sat there for about 15 minutes just repeatedly unplugging/replugging and... it decided to work again? Might have been a fluke.Do you have the serial number and are still in contact with the original owner? That's not normal at all.
Anyone else find their xDSD forever stuck in Line Out mode?
Having connected it via SDIF, and lost the volume knob to Line Out, I am unable to turn off Line Out mode.
I even left the device on to drain the battery, only to discover stuck in Line Out (white dial color) when charged up again.

Affirmative, tried that.I'm sure that you did this already, but just to make sure have you tried the usual as described in xDSD's manual?
