iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

Yes I’ve tried that, I installed the driver and no matter what type of file I play the indicator light is green. My device says speakers (ifi HD+ USB Audio). The sample rate never changes. I uninstalled the device from device manager to try again.

Oh and when I go to device manager it says no driver is being used.

I have found that I often have to have my device rediscover in Bluetooth mode. Hope that helps.

Yes I had to forget xdsd and then rediscover it. Thanks. Hopefully the ifi guy will show up with suggestions on how to stream mqa or DSD through my laptop. I’ve tried everything I can think of. And I don’t want to mess with the unit’s firmware if I don’t have too.

I mean I’m not really sending it back I’m just a bit frustrated. It sounds so damn good, even on Bluetooth and I love the size and looks, I could never get rid of it, I just want MQA to work properly on my laptop.

Hello I found the problem, the ifi device in windows was set at dvd quality 48000, I set it to studio quality 128000 and disabled pass through on Tidal and now I have Magenta:) Sounds great. Also got my ifi usb otg type C cable and it sounds even a bit better than Bluetooth.

And I borrowed my friends Sony wm a1 to compare to the m6- xdsd combo and although the Sony sounds great in balanced and has a very wide sound stage, I like the more holographic stage of the xdsd better and the treble and bass seemed better on xdsd also (no effects on)- mids are more in your face on the Sony. Xdsd just sounds sharper and more dynamic and easier to place things in the stage. Not a huge difference, because wm 1A sounds awesome I just like the way it’s presented better on xdsd/m6.

So that surprised me because I have $550 dollars in the m6/xdsd combo and the wm 1A is $1200.

Soon. Like, really soon.
Couldn't find an answer. My Android phone only does SBC and AAC. I can stream bluetBlue in SBC, but it doesn't seem to want to stream AAC on my androAn device. Other DACs will stream in AAC on it. Please, help!

The xDSD jack is a 3.5mm TRRS wired:
Tip - Left+
Ring - Right+
Ring - Left-
Sleeve - Right-

Thanks for the confirmation! I'm making a custom 3.5mm to Neutrik XLR4 for my Focal Elex and made the mistake of thinking it'd be the same as the 2.5mm balanced TRRS. Will update with progress.

UPDATE:
The imaging, the depth, the fullness of the Elex with the balanced cable makes a huge difference on the xDSD’s s-balanced circuit. Holy crap, the bass is so much juicier, everything is more defined. Jaw-droppingly better.
