Okay,

I will take the UE-10PRO. It's smaller and less obtrusive...although it is a bit more $$$.

If we're not constrained by budget or practicality:

Meridian G08
Sennheiser HEV90
Sennheiser HE90
The "Furtwangler Conducts Beethoven" wartime recordings album from Music & Arts. It contains simply the greatest music I have ever heard.

(A box set isn't cheating, since OP did select a complete Wagner opera

)

On the other hand, if I had to pick a system I could actually afford:

Sony D-NE920 PCDP
Headroom Micro DAC
Headroom Micro Amp w/ DM
Sennheiser HD 650
Same Furtwangler set as above.

It's time to go solar power.

I'd also use a flash player. Less likely that will fail compared to harddrive or cd player since there's no moving parts.

Or how about XM radio?

No need to "bring" songs.

If I was to have one player then could I have my PC? I have my entire CD collection on it so that'd keep me going for a little while (about 2 weeks worth of music on it)

Then I'd take a micro dac & amp setup with a pair of K701. Think that'd keep me going.

Sony HD5H
Shure E3c
Death to the Pixies (limited edition with live set on CD2 - not cheating cause it all comes in one CD case!).
Or possibly the Pixies live at Brixton Academy - the disclive CD of one of the gigs I went to. Better set list, but the sound is pretty awful in places.

The RS1 is totally the classical friendly Grado!
