If you could only have one pair of Beyerdynamics?

All black DT990 @ 600ohm.

Test drove the regular premium ones but the color scheme was just ugly.

DT48 - they were the first proper stereo dynamic cans, and there is nothing else quite like them...

I would choose them for their midrange transparency and their historical significance.

Think early air-cooled 911... ("F Model", for all those Porsche fans out there).

I've owned the DT 440, 770, 880 Pro, 990 Pro, T 90 and 1770 Pro... I am convinced my pick would be something not included in that list. Actually as of now I basically own only the DT 990 Pro and refuse to acknowledge that somewhere in the closet I've hidden the T 90s... But the DT 990s are my go-to headphones in case something happens to my primary (non-Beyerdynamic) cans.

I would gladly buy the one's I own (DT880s) again, they've been wonderful to me, but can anyone comment about what an Amiron brings to the table over an (EQed to minimize treble peak) DT880? Some people say the Amiron is warm and lush, some say it's bright, and without any measurements around I don't know what to make of them.

As a car enthusiast, I am well aware of the clamor over air cooled 911s and their skyrocketing prices. It's gotten to be a bit much if you ask me, but I think it's a backlash against the numbing influence of technology in modern cars. For the most part, 911s have earned their lofty position in traditionalists' hearts. However, "F Model" doesn't hold any significance to me whatsoever. Did you mean type R?
