Portable: UE11 (though I use it at home as much as any)

Home: R10 or O2 MK1 (I'm waiting for my new amp to compare)

I think it's important to consider the whole rig if choosing just one. I've thought about this before. I could be perfectly happy with HD650s or 600s, but only if matched well. I think the same could be said with others. If I had to sell everything today, I'd choose the UE11s (if I didn't have to sell my speakers), for practical purposes of being able to use them anywhere, amped or unamped, and they sound really good.

For portable and home use? Shure SE530. A good all purpose, all genre performer.

For home use? AKG K601 if I'm only allowed one can.

I considered the Grado SR225 for both home and portable, but I just can't see myself wearing them when I'm out and about. The AKG K501 is my favorite can, but if I can only have one it would have to be the K601. A better performer when bass is required.

But there are a whole lot of cans I've never heard.
