My own is voice is so soft and smooth to the point of unbearable, so normally I'd say I want a really throaty, rough, sandpaper-type voice.
But I can't really think of any such musicians I'd like to be (what? Howie Day?), so I'm going to go in the other direction, and say I want the voice of Colin Blunstone. HA!
Mikael Åkerfeldt, hands down. His mastery of both a soft emotive croon and those unholy growls of death (while still remaining fully decipherable) has me green with envy.
I'd like to combine Chuck Billy (Testament) & Bruce Dickinson (Former Iron Maiden). Chuck Billy for the growl, Dickinson for the amazing range and versatility. If I could choose only one it would be Chuck Billy for the ability to scare young children by only talking
Brian Ferry or Peter Murphy.
I would also like to be able to switch on and off the voice of the late Fred from the B-52's for parties and karaoke nights ("Love shack BABY!")
Popular- Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant circa 1968/9, Glen Hansard (from the Irish band the Frames),
Classical- Franco Corelli, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Beniamino Gigli
