That's same as K271 with Valour Pads and integrated cable. It's enough to buy Valour Pads and K271 is superior with detachable cable.

Exactly, do not confuse K271S with K171S

The HD series is tuned differently. The mkII series just added velours.

So I repeat again the question: if you had the ag271, which is the closest upgrade that is worth?

If not at least i will mod them with self-made cable and velour pad...

I don't agree with this - I've had my k271 for a while now and even with velours they have less overall bass than the k701 with the possible exception of very low bass. (the natural closed headphone advantage).

Neither is a bass-heavy headphone, though.

I had my K271s for a while before I got my K701s. I like them both, but they're not that similar. If you have proper amplification I think the K701s are a bargain right now.

The K701 is NOT in the right direction as an upgrade for the K271S... you should be looking at the RS1/AD2000/SA5000 instead.
