Buenos dias. First and foremost, I'm an avid aggro skater (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD8sRLHxF_c) and I'll indulge in a stroll anytime the weather permits.
Now I've cycled through a lot of pairs of IEMs but have been sorely disappointed by the fact that the buds will not stay in my ears once I start sweating from the temples, and I sweat a lot . My last pair of iems were senn's CX400s and I loved the sound quality and how well they'd isolate the sound, in dry settings. But as soon as sweat invades my ear canals, they lose their grip and repeatedly fall off. That combined with the type of skating I partake in should give you an idea of what my buds have had to endure.
I went to an electronics store last week and the clerk suggested that I should buy the monster iems. I returned them a day later because they also failed where all others had.
I bought a cheap pair of PIIQs (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666169345) only to confirm that the problem isn't the latching itself but the rubber buds' grip.
Someone told me that I should try foam tips instead of the default rubber tips, as they should soak up the water. Can anyone confirm this?
Now I am aware of headphones designed for sport use, but I've noticed that there seems to be a conflict between sound quality/ambient noise muffling and latching gimmicks. I have yet to see a single pair of sport headphones that actually do isolate sound as they're open. I live downtown and I do take the metro a lot as well. I was also suggested ATH-EW9s at some point but after reading some reviews, it is clear that I wouldn't satisfied in loud ambient settings.
So, having just about given up on IEMs, I'm thinking of turning to DJ styles... My question: Are there any DJs that will hold onto my head like a vice grip? :O I like bass and I wouldn't go past 300$.
