I have iaudio7 and a dt770pros that i love, is there anything that sounds remotley like the 770's in the $50 range ? Mostly listen to metal and rock, i been looking at different ones for hours and I cant make up my MIND !

I dunno if they sound like 770's but i can say for "Rock" music go for ultimate ears, but they dont have anything considerable under $50
so raise your budget or look at senn cx300 or 400, did you try them?

yeah for that price you won't get anything that sounds good like the dt770. you might find a screaming treble killing bass machine like the cx300 but you will not find quality like the dt770.

the atrio m5 remeinded me of the dt770 more than any other phone as they were darkish like the dt770 but with less treble energy. both extend very low and sound great but they are 160$.

you can find other sounds for that price. if you go for the victor hp-fx300 you may be pleasently surprised by the sound.

Super.fi 5 EB (not that close, however bassy) or Atrio m5/m8. You will get worse SQ than the 770's (I have only auditioned them briefly so I'm not sure, but theats my first impressions).

I have both the Atrio's and the DT770 and can say that the Atrio's are really similar to the DT770 in sound though the DT770 has better highs and as you'd imagine the characteristics benefits of a can.

My dilema is i want them for work, and I am a machinist, I dont really get dirty or oily but I dont wanna drop $100 on a set and bring them in there lol, The stock buds for the iaudio7 are pretty awful, I tweak the iaudio7 for them to sound decent and then plug in my dt770's and it really makes me see how crappy the stock buds are hehe. I would spend $50 without a thought I guess.

Forget SF3s for bass, and cx300 is overpriced. New metro might work ok, fun dynamic bassy sound.

UPDATE

ecost was sold out

I got the metro fi 2's from B&H for $49

so far I like them right out of the iaudio7, I used the smallest replaceable tips it came with and they are comfy as hell. Good bass response and my iaudio7 is set to rock and BBE 1, Mach3bass 5, MP enhance on and everything else normal.

Listened to Godsmack Greed, Pantera Revolution is my name, Iron Maiden Where Eagles Dare, Black Sabbath St. Vitus Dance and they all sound the way i want so far !

Man, I don't like the Mach3bass at all, and thought the BBE and MP enchance were all rubbish. You might want to try lossless and tune the EQ by yourself to suit your preferences.

So how do they compare to the 770s?
