If I'm going to get in-ears, I'd like a pair that I can lay down on my side without disturbance. Is this practical?

Sometimes I fall asleep with Creatives EP 630... it`s no good, I prefer not to sleep but listen with full sized headphones, like my HD 600.

UM 1 or 2 both fit very close in the ear and are very comfortable to lie on

I wear Triple Fi 10 and lay on my side... no problem.
But I would love to have some speakers in my bedroom.

Shure E500's fit snugly in the ear ... no problems

I had the Triple Fi 10's and the ERp4's and they stuck out some ... not good for rolling over on ...

Phones like the CX300s are good for laying on my side and nodding off. I normally remove the phones and set them on the nightstand prior to falling asleep though.

I have UM2's and they hardly stick out at all, i've almost fallen asleep with them in a couple of times.. But i won't be doing that until i get the 3's as a replacement

If you want to go cheap, I'd recommend JVC Marshmallows since they don't stick out and are very well built, which is good for bed use.

ER6i's with short/small foamies or bi-flanges would insert well into the ear canal. I don't use the Etys for falling asleep, though -- I use Creative EP630s (and take them out before falling asleep) or Sennheiser PX100's. I tried the Future Sonics Atrio M5's once for this, and not only is the form not ideal for sleeping, but the sound is so good I resisted sleeping!

Among IEMs, the Westone UM1 and UM2 would provide an excellent fit for lying on your side.

EP630s are great, also I have UM1s that are nice to sleep in -I'd stay away from UE Super Fi, they stick out quite a bit!

Ultimate Ears Supfer Fi 3's or 5 Pros. Just flip flop mod them and they flit quite flat to the ear.

I sleep with my UM2 pretty often. They're pretty much invisible after a while. The cable helps. The E500 fits pretty flush too, but the cable is much more obtrusive.
