I'm currently on my second pair of M4's. In both, the left side driver has had mid range distortion at higher volume levels. According to mp4nation's website (presumably accurate), the M4 only has a continuous power rating of 4 mw, compared to even the M2 at 10 mw. Sennheiser's website doesn't give the power rating of the IE80, but I'm guessing it's higher than the M4. I like the sound signature of the M4, though I do EQ the bass up a bit, and from everything I've read the IE80 or upcoming IE800 would be perfect for me, but both of those are way out of my price range for now. What would be a good in between IEM the M4 and Sennheiser flagships in the $100-150 range? I like the V sound signature, and appreciate being able to EQ the bass up a few decibels when I'm in the mood, but definitely need to be able to push the volume level up without crackling and distortion. I really appreciate any recommendations or suggestions. Thanks.
