Hi guys,

I've been away from these forums and the hobby for 3.5 years and don't own any headphones anymore! I want to finally get myself a good pair of IEMs.

Though it has been a while I remember that I enjoyed the LCD 2's sound signature the best among the numerous headphones I used to own. So basically warm with good bass and smooth (no harsh trembles, I didn't like the Beyerdynamic T1 I recall ).

My first instinct was to get the Shure SE535 and be done with it. I remember those were quite good but I assume a lot has changed in the industry in 3.5 years.

Could you guys help me get back up to speed?

I don't plan on getting a DAC or amp. These IEMs will be mostly for use with my smartphone.

Thanks!
Tom

Sony XBA-A3, Sony XBA-A5, Aurisonics ASG 2.0, Aurisonics ASG 2.5, JVC FW-01, JVC HA-FX1100.

These can all be had used for about $200-$400 :)

If you're willing to spend a bit more, Shure SE846 pops up in the classified for $500-$550 sometimes.

Check out the Oriveti New Primacy, it's a great IEM for $300,

Also worth looking into are the Westone W30's and the SE535 is still good but only if you like that kind of sound (lush, mid forward).
