Heard the IE8, wasn't wowed for what my friend paid.

The overall signature seems to be mid-bass centric lacking in treble extension (it's there, but no sparkle, not as clear as cheaper alternatives). Soundstage is excellent.
Or maybe it was something to do with my fit.
How does the IE8 compare with the IE80?

Saw this thread and doesn't really help much. How is the rest of the balance?

The IE8 has a lot more mid bass which clouds the mid range and dulls the treble somewhat. There is treble sparkle but the IE80s (just as the IE8) has silky smooth treble. The treble is well extended but not harsh. It is refined. Some prefer jagged spikey treble. I do not. The IE80 sound stage is slightly smaller than the IE8 as it is a bit more upfront, bass is tighter and goes deeper (with emphasis on the sub bass and less on the mid bass). The mid range is clearly better on the IE80. The IE80s are overall more detailed than the IE8.
