Hi I am new to the forum here.

I currently have the JBL T290 earphone which is giving some problems (after 2 years of nearly daily use) and now am looking for a new IE earphone that satisfies the following:

- good rich bass and sub bass
- good (balanced) treble
- relatively crisp and unmuffled/unrecessed mid-level sounds

The JBL T290 felt muffled a little but the bass was good and they fit vry well.

I am now considering either the SONY MDR-XB50 or XB70, only I am a little put off by the size and bulkiness.

Can anyone suggest some good earphones within, say $50 that satisfy the above criteria. I am not big on volume controls.

Just to be clear, you're talking about IEMs? The SoundMAGIC E10c is regarded as one of the best in-ears at 50 bucks. It has good well-defined bass, forward miss which sound great with vocals, and clear highs

I looked up a review on the SoundMAGIC E10c as you recommended. It looks pretty good. I will see if one of the nearby stores has a try-piece to see how they sound.
