Hello just bought a pair of Sennheiser IE80s of eBay registered them the serial number check out fine everything looks legit BUT mind is still not at rest, can serial numbers be fake as well?

Fakes have serial numbers and I doubt the Sennheiser website is geared to scan existing s/n#'s when an item is registered - I could be wrong here, but most likely when you register, you are simply making note of what is on the box - they would only then look it up when you request warranty service. The easiest way to confirm would be to try to register a phantom IE80 and input a serial number with an extra digit and see if it gets flagged - if not, then you know the s/n field is simply a placeholder.
