I've decided I'm going to buy the AKG-K702. I heard it requires some significant power to drive, so I was wondering what you guys would buy to drive it if you had $400 to drop.
 
On a side note, I wish I had the Neuhaus T-2, but unfortunately, I can't find any listings on eBay, or I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Try contacting a DIY amp maker for a M^3 for whatever good DIY amps are out there, or haunt the FS forums for a good deal on any powerful SS amp, actually... There's quite a feel good listings right now! A lot of people seem to like warm amps for the K70x, but I don't know, I prefer neutral amps ..

Doing some research on the forum, the Little Dot MKV seem to be a really good SS amp for the akg 702 and below $400. If you want warm tube sound, the MKIII is also good and cheaper in price. The MKV will be my next purchase in the future, gonna feel sorry for my wallet again

I might get the MKIII, I prefer to have tubes rather than SS. I heard they sound much better.

What version of DT880 do you have (80/250/600 ohms)?? How does it fair with the k702? Im also planning to get a pair so would really appreciate some [size=10.0pt]insights [/size]

I don't know how well it fairs agains the K702 since I literally just ordered it like, 20 minutes ago.

Audio-gd FUN would be my first choice under 400$.
It has a very good DAC and an excellent amp for the money. It powers K701/2 with ease.

Oh! Yea you should definitely post a comparison between them. IMO, the K702 sounds orgasmic to my ears, i'm really satisfy with it as my first high end headphones, i'm sure you would as well . Don't know if you ever try this set up/ plug ins, it boosts my listening experience by ten fold, props to Graphicism
