No, not at all.. This was a great buy on your behalf. The more I listen to other DAPs, the more I realize that this is better than I realized.. Sincerely, I've owned the Fiio X3ii, X5ii, Cowon Plenue D, and this player just rests on top of each (FOR MY EQUIPMENT AND PREFERENCES!) This is offers what I personally look for or shall I say, listen for in a DAP, yes, there are a few things I wish it could do, but that may become a reality at some point.. Remember this is a fairly new player so there are still changes being made.. And will continue having.. I just feel like it's the most future proof DAP that costs less than $500, Obviously, at $650 the Fiio X7 is the most future proof of all the players for the time being due to the modular amps, but that is Fiio's TOTL DAP, so it had to bring it's "A" game.. And it has shown by the results.. But for those of us looking for that Entry to Mid-Fi price point.. The DX80 makes for a very solid entry. I agree that if Touch screens are not your thing, the Fiio X5ii is a very good choice as well.. But at that point it boils down to personal preference. And as I stated earlier in Capital letters.. My ears and preferences and my equipment the DX80 is my favorite.
I too have the iPhone 6, but my problem is, I use it with the Fiio E12A.. Which makes it sound VERY good, with a VERY black background. However, with how good it sounds, still doesn't have the sound stage the DX80 offers. It's not that it's wider, it's simply due to the soundstage having better instrument placement and separation, more than likely due to better imaging and layering. Details are similar, but due to the better soundstage on the DX80, it makes them more easy to pick out. Yes, I love the DX80.. I did do a review on it, and honestly need to update it.. As I've found better ways of explaining my findings after owning it for a while, and my brain being "burned in".
