"Same issue scanning my 128GB card as has already been reported here though - crashes in progress and it's back to a now-frozen home screen and requires turning off and on again. Not the best start but hopefully this gets resolved in the imminent firmware update this weekend."

So basically all ibasso reports ( dx100,90,50 and now 80 ) are equivalent and I'm agree with them :
- very good build quality
- good sound
- buggy firmware

I will not upgrade my dx50 with a new ibasso dap because they are unable to correct them. My dx50 is still full of bugs, so is the dx90 of a lot of users.

Seems users forget to do a match with shanling m3 dap: good sound, very good build quality, very fast with no bugs.

I admit to be also very deceived by ibasso pricing policy : I bought my dx50 years ago for 180€ and now they sell it for 259€...

How were you deceived? It looks like you got a decent price to begin with. The DX50 is out of production as they have stated it is discontinued. If someone now sells it for 259, that is their business, and it wouldn't be the pricing of iBasso, just like any other company, whether it be Canon, Nikon, or whomever. And I use the DX90 have have no real bugs or problems with it. I don't think there are a "lot" of users with problems.

I scanned in a 128gb with dsd and it scanned in total. It isn't full though, around 80gb of dsd files.

I'm deceived because:
- initial bugs got never corrected ( sometimes it skip 1 second of music randomly with no reasons )
- gapless does not work correctly
- screen going yellow ( have to restart to correct it.

And just look at dx90 thread, yes a lot of users still complain like dx50 users about crappy sdcard scan and various bugs.

I have test some dap since my dx50 purchase : shanling, Sony, cowon... All are fast with no evident bugs.

And yes they are daps that are able to sound as good as ibasso ones or even more natural, more respectful of recording.

Have you tried a shanling m2? M3? This is worth a try, especially for their prices.

And at last but not least: like all folks here I'm spending lots of time to find the device that feet my needs, so how should we feel when sq is changing with every firmware, huh? Basically I have now to choose between some bugs or the sound I like...
My avr amplifier at home has never changed sq by flashing firmware...

That's the reason why my two DX50's run under Rockbox, no single issue from above and rock solid never any single issue and perfect SQ with a nice theme it looks great too.

I haven't heard a dap that hasn't changed sound with a FW update, not one. Anyway, this is a DX80 thread so I will leave it at that regarding the DX50. And even the big names like Sony have had bugs on their daps. I do not in any way condone having issues with FW and accepting it but it seems there is always something but it doesn't keep me from enjoying the daps I have, except a few, that are just too much to work with.

Really? This is scary for me ! this means you buy a dap and then a few weeks later ends with one you'd probably never bought

But I'm not saying here Ibasso products are crap : they certainly aren't! I'm just saying I'm waiting more for a dap. It has to sound good, and the firmware and ui has to be more "polished".

I have a few that I wish I had not bought but most I enjoy, even with their oddities. One person who emailed me can't stand the ZX2 UI (even after updates) and I like it fine. There were a few bugs they worked on them but even without the fix I didn't mind it at all. I agree, that we need daps released that are complete. I think there will always be a few things that come up that need to be fixed, even Apple with all their billions has bugs, but that doesn't mean I accept them. I am a realist and understand that with all the coding, there are so many interactions that things will happen. Fix one thing and something else now is made unstable. With everything that is now, in daps, it is a big step past when I used to carry around my Sony D25 and a little packet of CD's and hope it didn't skip. lol

i never witnessed any bugs with my DX90 , i bought mine at the time around 2.1.8 FW was released though so i don't know what happened in the first 6 months

also , most problems with DX90 'bugs' were related to badly formatted/corrupt sd cards

DX80 has some minor bugs , but it's not a deal breaker for me , maybe i am not OCD/anal enough ? maybe.

i can accept someone owning dx90 not wanting to upgrade to dx80 , but for anyone looking for a killer dap at 350$ , ithink dx80 fits the bill

still yeah , we need Ibasso to fix those slight bugs , and then we can find something else to bitch about cause this is head-fi , right ?

What are you guys doing to these 128gb cards?? Storing anime porn album art on them or something... :p

I scanned in a 128gb with dsd and it scanned in total. It isn't full though, around 80gb of dsd files.

How is your card formatted? Wondering if that's the issue.

And my card is about 110gb full. Of anime porn album art naturally.

On my DX80, I tried formatting my Sandisk 128GB with FAT32 (on Mac), FAT (on Fiio) and exFAT (on Win10), all detects fine on DX80 and folder browse mode works fine but fails on scanning. (Also somehow 128GB card never shows up on DX80's USB Storage mode, even though <64GB cards show up fine).

I found that as I progressively add more songs into the card, there comes a point where scanning process fails and I get an incomplete list.
I have about 50% DSF and 50% ALAC. They both scan fine but I guess it gets stuck on a particular song or after certain number of songs or something.

iBasso said there will be a firmware update coming out to fix this, this weekend, so I'm really looking forward to that.
I hope iBasso will not go into the typical trap of promising an update that keeps getting delayed (or never comes out).

Having a 128GB card working flawlessly is important for people wanting to demo at the shops. Scan fails = No sale.

Thanks for the info, sounds like very much the same deal here. Hope the firmware fix comes fast, really like what I'm heading so far bit need scanning issues sorted.
