Seriously? I’m a Chord Dave user and I had tried Hugo2 and 2go combo for multiple times. Pretty sure no one will be more familiar about Chord signature sound than me.

After listening all these I can conclude that the Max is truly a piece of great creation. It sounds so much better than Hugo2 +2go combo. As a Chord Dave user. When I switch my Utopia from Dave to the Max.The quality of details and sub bass didn’t made me feel the price difference in between those 2. But when I switch it from Dave to Hugo2, I can’t stand the sound for even 5mins.

That said, in my opinion and from my personal experience, the Max sound so much better and so much more convenience than the Hugo 2+ 2go combo.

I guess we are going here for "The Most Controversial Thread of the Year" HF Award :D

My take, yes, everything is subjective and there is no right or wrong if you think A is better than B. But when getting into high end gear with "high end" prices, people are more sensitive to general comments because majority spend a long time doing their homework before investing their hard earned money, and hoping they will be able to enjoy this investment for a longer time (not 'long' time, but just 'longer'). Plus, for some English is not the first language. Everybody is entitled to say what they like and if they like one thing better than the other. But it is not what you say, but how you say it. It helps being more tactful, and instead of "this sounds so much better" perhaps phrase it as "to my ears listening with xyz pair of headphones/earphones this sounds so much better". You are still making the same point, but you will get a different reaction to it.

Sorry, with so many Head-fi patience, I'm still trying to find time lol!!!

But seriously, and I already whined about it in a few other threads while answering the same question. Besides a crazy 10-12hr a day work schedule in the last 4 months and kids on-line schooling on top of that, I have received way too many review samples (i know, cry me a river). With every new one I share some pictures and initial impressions and start collecting listening notes until something new comes in 3-4 days later, and it's back to rinse-and-repeat. I hate doing short first look reviews, but I think this will be the only way for me to catch up.

#60 Max I first heard the Max back last September at a Guangzhou Fair .. enjoyed but was not ‘floored’ as I was hoping for .. other new products by Shanling excited me more .. pleased to say the tuned and developed version of the Ibasso Max is what I was hoping it would and could be .. playing with its outputs both digital and balanced it’s a great transport as well as a terrific sounding player with my cans

I'm not sure if I have a battery issues or not. The digital section is draining much faster than the analog section. When I first got the Max, the difference is between 10-15% with digital section draining faster. Now, it is ranging between 35 to 55% at time. Has anyone experience such problem? I'm still within the return window and may elect to do an exchange. Is this normal? Thanks.

I have found it depends upon the resolution and the volume setting of the digital section.

The file resolution is 24/44.1. I maxed out the volume section and using the amp in low gain mode. Still 50% disparity between the two sections is quite a bit.

I would run the dac battery all the way down and then recharge it. May need a reset. I did that once.

Yes, I have been running it all the way down with the amplifier battery showing between 35-55% left when I recharge the player. I don't think I'm getting a good runtime either with unit having about 550 hours on it. Will have to test it out tomorrow.

Yes, I did run it all the way down and the unit is completely shut down afterward. When the unit is turned back on it shows less than 1% on the DAC battery and 55% on the amp battery. Is this defective? Ibasso, can you confirm this? I only use Mango app to play music and put the player on an Airplane mode.
