Dx160 also had the option to switch between 1080 and 720 IIRC

Played today a little bit with Roon ARC on DX170. Uh that still lags a lot. Changed to Roon ARC on iPhone with A15 - much better. But also here not perfect. ARC is still 1.0 so maybe speed will be improved in the next updates. By design of Roon ARC Replay Gain operations and future DSP are computed on the DAP. That will make it very slow on DAPs with outdated CPUs. Would much better be done on the Roon core and only streamed to the DAP. But that is off-topic.
Conclusion at least for me: Tidal app, neutron app, foobar2000 are running well on DX170 with 720p setting. Roon ARC is no fun. Maybe iBasso can improve efficiencies of their android 11 operating system to smooth UI performance.

Just testet
DX170 in Antutu - GPU Score in 720p is 14700 CPU Score 26400
compare
iPhone (A15) GPU Score is 325000 and CPU 215000
FiiO M11Plus GPU Score is 37300 and CPU 72500

CPU of FiiO is 3x faster than DX170
GPU of FiiO is 3x faster than DX170

Performance of iPhone is stellar
CPU of A15 is 8x faster than DX170
GPU of A15 is 22x faster than DX170

Final thought: if an App feels laggy on iPhone - forget to use it on DX170 - Roon Arc will never run properly on DAPs :frowning2:

Could I please ask other members what volume level you use the DX170 at? I have the gain set at low and use a 4.4mm balanced cable, but I cannot go any higher than 22 - not that it's a problem but I would be interested in others experience.

there are sooo many criteries. it's depends from you earphones mostly. seems they are very sensitive and with low Ohms. try to use 3.5mm output. balanced output produces the double power of 3.5mm output

Is it only me who have problems with USB DAC mode? I can't use it as USB DAC mode. I tried it on 2 macbooks pros (M1 and Intel chips).
I go to Mongo player -> Settings -> Advanced -> USB DAC (charged mode on or off) and connect the type-c cable (other 2 players works fine with that cable). laptops can't see the device as output. tried with cable first and then turn on the usb dac mode, with or without headphones attached to it.
P.S. firmware version is 1.01.227

Did you try an OTG cable?

TBH I don't have an OTG cable and I don't think I need it. Because all my devices can work as USB DAC with a general cable (Fiio K3, Fiio 11S, Fiio X5 ii). Only ibasso have some problems with connectivity. strange.
P.S. tried even with the original cable. nothing. with the same cable Fiio 11S works great.

even factory reset didn't work :frowning2: also tried on my PC and nothing. I think I will return the unit.
For the PC did you install the driver from the ibasso site?

so, for some reasons USB DAC mode worked if I connect it via cheap XQD card reader. connecting directly to the laptop (type-c to type-c cable, original cable, even thunderbolt 3 cable) didn't help. I think this can be a bug in the firmware.
@Paul - iBasso what do you think about this issue? maybe you have some information?

P.S. charging works with any cable
