I'm running the older Lurker software and I'm having trouble updating. Is the new software pretty polished or should I wait to update.

Hi, i am currently running ibasso dx150 with balanced output
Is getting amp7 (and getting back to single ended) will be a noticeable upgrade?
I like the improvement of SQ from SE to BAL, so i am reluctant of getting back to SE

Have you considered the Amp8 since it has BAL output and from what I understand is substantially similar to Amp7 in terms of components/performance? @twister6 made a very useful comparison between the various iBasso amps in his review: https://twister6.com/2018/07/28/ibasso-dx150-with-amp6-amp7-and-amp8-modules/3/
Personally I am using SE output of Amp7 on my IEM/headphone and based on my casual listening the Amp7 SE is a noticeable step-up from the Amp6 SE - more headroom, better dynamics and greater energy throughout the various frequencies. Hope this helps you make a decision =)

Might be better off with the 120 instead then unless you want/need the amp section ability.Does anyone use their player exclusively in mango mode? I don't use any wireless functions so I don't really need to be running Android all the time.

I heard the SR15 at canjam NY. I a/b it directly against my DX150 with the stock AMP. IMO you can't do much better than the DX150 plus AMP8 in this price range. The Lurker software brings it to the next level.Hi.. i am deciding between dx150, cayin n5iis, and a&k sr15..

I had the chance to try all three (stock amp and stock fw, 3.5mm SE output). I'd say, SR15 > DX150 ~~ Cayin N5iiSS (dx150 and N5iiSS has pretty different soundsig, so it's matter of preferences)
But bear in mind that dx150 had more 'scalability' with amp 7 / amp 8, and changing firmware with lurker / fidelizer.
In the end i bought my dx150
I agree! You have many more options with the DX150. It powers full sized headphones with no issues. The AMP8 is a must in my opinion. It brings the sound of the DX150 from mid-fi to knocking on summit-fi.I had the chance to try all three (stock amp and stock fw, 3.5mm SE output). Already did that, twice , even downloaded the file twice , if it was successful I wouldn't ask, I'm trying to find out if there is another way to do it? Batch tool maybe?

So I was able to upgrade to Official 8.1 like this : Upgrade using the AndroidTool (Android O beta has it bundled with the needed driver), than copy the latest version to sdcard and use the local upgrade method.
