I would think 20+ hours is average these days. Now 40+ is considered good. And with flac playback the playback time is much less than even what Cowon rates it. This is due to the extra power needed to playback these files. A few headfiers have confirmed 55+ hours of playback with the Studio V on flac files. Its rated 85+ hours on 128kbs files (which is a joke why would anyone wanna use such crap on such a revealing player?). Keep in mind the 55 hours of playback won't happen if you run it for a straight 55 hours non stop. If you take breaks here and there the battery will last longer on each charge. This test was done in 5 hour intervals of usage, which in reality not many are gonna listen to a DAP for longer than that in one sitting.

Really, WOW , so on average you get more then 40 hours of playtime, where have I been living, my T51 max at 10 hours,,,,somebody shoots me....

lol but she takes forever to fully charge. I'd say at least 12 to 14 hours to fully charge from a complete drain. But that's not so hard to digest when you are sleeping and have it mostly charged by that time :). I also need to get into the habit of charging this thing at work and save electricity...

Hope The DX100 will not have 666 minutes of battery, $666 price tag, or 666 firmware bugs!

MY 666th post, and my lucky number is 6, hoping for good news

Fantastic - I go home to get some sleep and there is another 8 pages of total FUD when I get back this morning. Some of you have to be bots - that, or you post in this thread 24/7 ....

20 + battery life with those specs would be godly

but lets be practical , am happy with 12+ battery life and <4 hours charge time .

How about 4 hours battery life and ~12 hours charge time ? I have the distinct feeling that my estimate is closer.

...which would be just about acceptable if  the battery was modular and one could carry around a spare or two (like the HM-801), but I don't see the DX100 offering a modular battery

Watch the Australian Open tennis, if you can't afford the DX100 $1500 specualted price tag, perhaps put some money on Sharapova.

Yes Lee, I can envision your "Studio V versus DX100" thread already.

For starters, watching videos makes you go blind, the UI on the Studio V is much more simple and fast, the DX100 sounds like a digital chalkboard, has nowhere near the battery life, the soundstage is super thin and unorganic, and it's oversized, you can't hide it in your shoe when passing through Chinese customs (since the battery inside it is illegal in China...).

Tennis ? Kiteki, if a cable company could promise me that I would never again have to endure the tennis (or the cricket ...), I would gladly give them $1500 .....

When you give a cable company $1500 you will lose all my respect.
