If your tags are consistent and reasonably well maintained, there'll be no problems.

thanks, they are, I'm a bit obsessive about tagging my music correctly when I rip.
I use tag and rename, which is an excellent tagging program, on all my music.

I'm sure it's been mentioned a dozen times already, but can someone comment on the DX50 vs. DX100 comparison in terms of sound quality?
thanks.

I've just asked the very same question in the DX50 thread. See the responses there:http://www.head-fi.org/t/679473/ibasso-dx50-appreciation-thread-new-3-firmware-update-v1-2-oh-em-geee/3510#post_9865504

With (C)IEMs they are actually pretty close - much, much closer than the price difference would lead you to believe. The biggest audible diffrence is the soundstage, where the DX100 does imaging better. We're not talking about $600 worth of difference though. The DX50 wins on size, battery life, screen and usability.

I guess it's firmware v1.4.2 which sounds like a wolfson? so it's very close to the DX50 :)

For custom IEMs and other low impedence headphones (I have Momentums) the difference probably doesn't justify the extra cost, however, with something like Senn HD650 I think every penny is accounted for.

I bought the DX100 to avoid purchasing a portable amp so I can't compare an amped DX50 to the DX100.

DX100 + HD650 is a GREAT combo - sadly I don't have the HD650 anymore so I can't test it with the DX50.

  1) do you have to use iBasso music app to get optimum sound quality, or can you use PowerAmp with similar or better results..?

2) any word on DX100 or subsequent model supporting Android 4? my current and previous phone have 2.3... tired of this now after getting a Nexus 7.2013

thanks

1) Yes

2) No

I emailed iBasso ask about the release of the API, and according to thier reply, they have RELEASED to some contracted developers.

no idea who are those contracted developers though, I am asking them now, but anyone have an idea?
