Well, I'm pretty sure years ago they said "a phone is just a phone, why should it have any other features?"
And look where we are now; smartphones that practically do everything.
A DAP is a DAP. But it doesn't mean it shouldn't have other features.

This DAP has many features.

If I can't play Angry Birds and Call Of Duty Zombies on the DX100 then it's a definite deal breaker. I love my music and all but I have my techno geek street cred to think about too.

Hope everyone who reads this knows I'm joking

P.S.
+1 on the beer opening idea. I'm Canadian and as such we love our beer and that feature is a must have

If I'm lost in the woods and have to use the DX100 to open a beer, is the black finish durable enough? Can one of you lucky first 40 test this and let me know?

The battery of my FJ Cruiser was dead today. I was able to jump it with the DX100. A truly versatile DAP.

You can ask ibasso if they would be willing to do this test with my RMA unit. As long as they don't send me that same unit that is....

Interviewer: Ok, Mr. Dx100. Are you a turkey?
DX100: I walk like a duck.
Interviewer:  Are you a chicken?
DX100: I quack like a duck.
Interviewer: *Sigh* C'mon, are you really a duck??
DX100: *DoubleSigh* Yes, I'm a great duck! Why does everyone want me to be a Turducken?? (if you don't know, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken)

What are the opinions of owners of DX100 and more amping?

Amping will benefit cans that are super hard to drive but even then its not necessarily a night and day difference but it will yield results non the less. Now with cans that aren't as hard to drive is pretty pointless. Even cans that are hard to drive are effortlessly driven by the DX100.

This is one of the most open and musical players I have ever heard. No need for another amp but it is always fun.

Hi jamato do you think the DX100 is a good enough source for a LCD-2 rev.2? I plan to use the LCD-2+DX100+objective 2 amp(its only $150)?

I have the LCD-2 and a slightly different version and it does great.

So, for what i've understood, the DX100 cannot work in any way as external DAC; since it don't have the usb receiver chip, right? Or no one know that for sure?

@Spock76591
The iBasso have answered to you that the DX100, wont function as external DAC, no? But have they also said, if it has (or will have) an usb receiver chip, or, at least, if in the future they will add any support for this function?

It doesn't have the capability to function as an external DAC like the Hifiman units......

I don't know about the USB issue....I did not ask nor did they comment.

All I know is that someone who has heard this unit and others has told me the DX100 is superb....the absolute best SQ and most powerful there is.  They felt it will set the standard against which all DAPs will be compared from this time forward.  I want one!!!
