Ibasso 1 bit Discrete portable DAC with Resistors Array D16

I need to try this for myself. First impression of mainland user of prerelease unit suggested that D16 was rather underpowered, and Ibasso is really designed it for usage with their AMP.

Well, I certainly have no intention of buying a $3000 stack.

1125mW is not 1700, but it’s not exactly “underpowered”. Depends on your headphones I guess.

Output impedance for D16 is not specified on the product page for some reason.
For PB5 OSPREY it is 0.25Ω (4.4mm BAL) | 0Ω (3.5mm SE).

I’m not very technical, seems like some kind of hybrid R2R but anyhow this would be the first R2R transportable DAC right? I’ve been waiting for a while to get a transportable DAC, can’t wait to see some feedback on how it sounds. Why wasn’t this announced in the sponsor forum?

Im very curious for the reviews of this unit, I want my "endgame" dac/amp for IEMs, now I use mojo2, if the SQ will be significant upgrade, it is a strong candidate for me...

I guess Paul has not been having the time for it yet ?
The D16 isnt exactly Hybrid, but it is more defined as a "Discrete DAC". Because it does not use any off the shelves IC chips, rather designed in house by Ibasso from Firmware to hardware with Dedicated segment laying out by Discrete components such as FPGA chip, DSP chip, Analog discrete resistor array filters. Therefore, just like Ibasso stated, the DAC D16 is a discrete DAC. It can also be called as a 1 bit DAC, because at the Discrete filter array, the signals are 1 bit

Amazing how fast DHL handles the delivery, always fast and professional. Faster than US domestic from states to states

The D16 comes with a very nice faux protective box display casing. It has the sling bag to safe keeping, and accessories that has everything anyone would need

1/ USB c to USB c
2/ USB a to USB c
3/ Coax to Coax
4/ High impedance Coax
5/ USB C to lightning

It charges with every chargers just fine, and always remember the middle port is DAC for usb, and outter port is charging. It is engraved on the chassis, but just a tip

The chassis is easily accessible by the 2 screws in the back, slide out by 1/8 and then gently lift and put to the side, the display ribbon cable is attached to it. You can easily swap out batteryIMG_1627.jpegIMG_1609.jpegIMG_1617.jpegIMG_1615.jpeg

Congratulations, looking forward to your findings. I can see you already enjoying PB5, and based on your impressions, it sounds nothing like what I listened previously. I'm glad ibasso did further work on it.
