Iaudio x5 20gb. 169 dollars new at Amazon

In my opinion its not worth it anymore to get the X5. There are 16gb flash player like the iaudio 7 in the same price category. Smaller and better in everyway. Or even the ipod classic 80gb. The X5 was arguably the best DAP from its time but in my opinion its outdated now.

I got the X5 (still works like a charm) and I'm not even interested in a CF mod if there is one. I rather get a new high capacity flash player instead.

Now that you mention it, I do wonder what kind of HDD the X5 uses and what connection along with it.

It might be very well be a potential candidate for a high capacity CF Mod.

I read about a few folks that unsuccessfully tried to use a CF drive in place of the Toshiba HD. Apparently, the firmware would not recognize the flash drive.

I'd grab one. My X5L gets around 30 hours of playback, with all lame V0 mp3's, using Rockbox. Gapless too! The default config for rockbox looks better than the stock firmware as well.

breakfastchef: That's a shame... Do you have any idea whether it was done with or without Rockbox though?

Thank you and I'll still keep an eye open on Amazon as the just recently sold out the X5's they had in stock. Every now and again though they re-stock and sell em' for a while. I'll keep checkin' but I wonder - is it really worth it if I now have a A829?

I have em both. The Sony is noce to have, its more managable than the X5 and I dont hove to worry about thrashing the disk. However, im my opinion, the X5 slaughters the sony in soundq
