Impression:
The screen is much more smaller, the weight is much more lighter, than I thought. I hardly believe this thing can last 60H with one full charge. Let's see. No chance to check the SQ, but guess no problem.

Nice, congratulations with a fine player! I have the 16 GB version, and I love it. The 60 hour mark is bit far fetched in my opinion. I think to max out that number you hardly ever use the screen, use flat EQ and only play low encoded mp3's to conserve battery. With "normal" use I would guess somewhere around 40-50 hours. I use mine at least 2 hours a day, and charge it 2 times a month.

I think the limit is 4000 files and 2000 folders in firmware 1.15 or newer. Wouldn't worry about that much. I have the 16 GB version, about 8 GB is in use, and about 900 files total. My music is 70% mp3 (mostly 320 kBits, some 256/192), and 30% flac. So I won't come close to the limit.

Go for the D2 if you want big screen video or DAB, iAudio 7 if you just want to play music.

Yu2x, if size doesn't matter to u, go with D2! And don't worry about file limit, it's very hard to reach it anyway...

Yes, D2 is more clear & tight sounding, i7 is a warmer sounding, but lacks the clarity of D2!

I think D2 has a better amp/dac than i7, at least it sounds so!

Just did a new intensive comparison between i7 & D2, and actually liked i7 better! D2 is good too, but it has overemphasized upper midrange around 8kHz and scooped lower mids, which make D2 sound a bit cold with "metallic" character (color).

While D2 maintains less amp noise, i7 is more "musical" sounding!

Phew, almost placed an order for D2 but decided to wait till the 16gb is out. I am also considering zune 80. Anyone has heard both ?

Thanks! How do the two compare to iAudio X5? That was my old player, which I liked a lot, so I am naturally curious. Also: How do i7 and D2 fare with real headphones?

Yu2x, D2 is a great player, I do recommend it, especially if you want to be able to watch videos, pics, enjoy the touch screen... Don't forget that D2 has SD slot as well, so you have unlimited storage option, especially with the upcoming 32GB SDs! And no need to wait for 16Gb edition, even 2GB is good enough in these terms...
Sound wise, the difference between two is not as huge as you may think it is! Both i7 & D2 sound dull comparing to my E-MU 1616m, for instance.

Solan, I've never used X5, so cannot comment here. I'm using headphones listed in my signature with i7 and it's good, not as clear/open sounding as I wish it would be, but the built-in EQ helps the situation though.

Here are the reasons for different sound output qualities:

Cowon iAudio X5: Motorola Integrated Microprocessor SCF5250 / Texas Instruments TLV320AIC23B Audio Codec
Cowon D2: Telechips TCC7801 / Wolfson WM8985
Cowon i7: Telechips TCC771L / Wolfson WM8731L
