If that's the case it'll be many years, likely five years minimum as long as moisture levels (too much nor too little) isn't a problem, before you need to buy a new set.

Yes, as long as I:
1) Never wear them in warm weather
2) Don't wear them longer than 20 minutes at a time unless its really cold and dry in my place.
3) Keep them aired and fresh by not putting them in a case or other enclosure immediately after use.
 
For example, right now where I am at I don't even want to think about even looking at a pair of headphones. (Waiting impatiently for the weather to cool down).
