I have many flac files I purchased from hd-tracks but I cant play them on the ipod my parents bought me.
 
I was hoping a software can help me convert the audio files while retaining quality. Hopefully the apple lossless quality is as good as flac

XLD will work and it's free. Lossless is lossless, shouldn't change the sound quality.

Another option is:
 
xAct will convert .Flac to AIFF or WAV. (then iTunes will convert to Apple Lossless)

A little late here, but I recommend Max. It'll go from FLAC straight to ALAC and most other formats.

Ditto on MAX - it will do it in one step, not two as previously suggested. I don't like to re-encode more than once.
