True, but that doesn't mean the K271 is without merit, and if you're in need a another headphone to amuse yourself, why not?

Because it costs several times what I usually pay for AKGs.

Sell off some K240's. :p

As for the 271 vs the 270... never heard the 270 so I can't comment, but the 271 does really well with high-end amps... sounded great out of a Dynahi that's been worked over by Trevor.

I don't use high-end equipment anymore since I resigned from being an audiophile. I will only be plugging my headphones into the integrated amp for my PC speakers.

Try searching for the elusive K4 electrostat/dynamic. I know lan has one and he really enjoys them. You can also check this website if you want to check out the whole akg line. However, i am not sure if its the whole thing. http://headphones.warzone.org/

Have you tried these vintage senn's?

Jk, have you tried woody K340's on Headphile?

Senns never sounded this good before.

I listened to some woody headphile K340s briefly, and I have examined them internally to see just what the differences were.

What woody K340s are you refering to? The only ones I have seen are just the K340s with wood trim pieces, and that has no effect on SQ at all, just a cosmetic addition. Now a K340 in a CD-3000 shell with wood cups would certainly peek my interest. Has anyone made one?
