I mean the sound is really clear. May be it is a return or something. May be they were sorting out the boxes and they made a mistake and forgot to put the 1/4" adapter in. Also the cable is hard where the headphones are. The part where it wraps behind your ear. You can bend it, but it just stays there. The rest of the cable is normal.

It's memory wire, surely? Designed to keep the shape for ease of fitting. Same as used in SF5P & TF10.

Edit\ I'd say that was another indicator that these were real, so reboxing/refurb as synaesthetic said is very likely.

same package that my UE su.fi3's came in, but I recall the box part being clear...the parts LOOK like UE components though....also my tip cleaner doesn't have a UE logo so I think you're safe there.

Maybe it was a UE packaging error?

Also...my 3's didn't come with a 1/4" jack so I think they only came with the 5+ as weird as that sounds.
