And they sound pretty darned good! I'm not exactly sure what year these are from. They were $250 new, and they are 250 ohm. They sound pretty similar to DT990's. The pair I got was mint. A heck of a score for $50! Anyone else own a pair of these?

Here was the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

That's good to know. I do think they sound very good. I am a Beyer guy anyhow, but this was sure $50 well spent.

Awesome, I'm glad those headphones went to someone that appreciates good sound! I really like the way the DT801s sound, as I do with most Beyerdynamic products. In fact, the only gripe I have about the 801s is the fact that they have a Y-cable... a silly gripe, I know.

I am very curious to hear how you would compare the 801s with the DT-250s. A year or so ago I couldn't choose between the DT-250s and the DT-660s. I finally ended up choosing the DT-660s, but I've always wondered what the 250s would've been like.

I really like the 660s--they aren't as liquid as the 801s, and are perhaps a little less forgiving with lousy recordings, but still they have some of that Beyer "house sound" that I like.

JunktionFET, I am a bit surprised you are a Head-fier (pleasently, of course). Why didn;t you try to sell the 801's on head-fi? i bet they'd have gone for more than I paid...just curious. Anyway, I really do like them
