My head is going to explode from all the information online.

I used to plug into a Focusrite 2i2 audio interface and it died.

I need a new USB DAC and Headphone for my computer. I've been reading on this subject and I am more confused now than I was before.

What do I need? I use a pair of Hifiman HE 400S with Tidal on my PC.
I am not an audiophile per say, but I do appreciate a good sound quality.
I notice an immense difference between my regular speaker amp in the living room when I plug into it compared to my laptop.

Schiit Fulla 3 DAC/amp, good bang for the buck.

If budget allows, I like my Chord Hugo2 or take a look at the Mojo as well.

A Schiit Fulla is a good recommendation; unless you used the manual level microphone control on your Foucsrite. To retain that you have to step up to the Schiit Hel. However you will lose the instrument inputs from your Focusrite.

The Schiit Hel offers 650mW at 50 ohms versus the 30mW the Focusrite gave you. Will make a huge difference in the sound due to the better control the Schiit DAC will have.

A couple of (possible) downsides. The Hel has 6.3mm headphone out and 3.5mm headphone in. It works with 2x USB connections. It doesn't have all the fancy displays the Focusrite has (a positive in my book but I'm an old cranky man).

I just got an A50s for my He400i and they sound fantastic driven by it. Plenty of power and a very clean signal

If I may ask, what's your budget?
