So I'm wondering what headphone I should pick

Sony MDR-V6 - $68
Sony MDR-7506 - $85
Audio Technica ATH-M50 - $115

I mostly listen to hip-hop/rap and rock and alternative...
Thanks  !

Hello!

The Sonys and ATH are of different animals. The ATH-M50 are on the bassy side, recessed mids. It lacks soudstage. The MDR-7506 on the other hand sound cleaner, less bass, lovely mids and highs. Neutral in short.

Hope this help!

Thank you! what do you prefer?

Personally, I prefer bass that extend all the way down to 20Hz and not too strong as I am not a fan of strong bass. Prefer it to not bleed. The bass quantiy and quality can be a deal breaker to me. Midsnhave to be smooth, and slightly forward. Highs must be clear. Decent soundstage are good enough but I need excellent details. Overall, I dislike hisses and prefer extreme clarity like the K550. My take will definately go to MDR-7506 under $130.

Please noted that, when I say less bass means right amount. I would take the HD518/ATH-M50 as too much bass.

You are most welcomed
