But, if you have an amp, the hd600/hd650 sounds much better than the 595s imo.

I thought the 595s sounded very mid-fi and weren't that breathtaking. But I guess the OP hasn't heard any better.

The HD600s and HD650s are way better when using decent equipment.

But to each his own, I'm more of a Beyerdynamic kinda guy anyway.

I would like to hear more upfront vocals. Other than that, they are just too close to perfection. The problem is that this "little" detail seems to be very important to me.

I really want to try the top tier IEMs too because of their great sound and their portability, and that is another reason why im thinking about selling the HD650, right now i cant afford to keep two $300+ cans as i had thought a few weeks ago.

I see an HD600 in your future.

Another disadvantage of HD555? They have full sized Adapter..which means u have to Plug in the extra 3.5mm jack. and ya...

When you wear HD555 u ARE aware of them being around your head.

HD595 has the full sized adater as well, but it comes with the headphone holder.

After listending to HD555 for over 300hrs, it still doesn't come as detail as brand new HD595. I have only used HD595 for few hours, but yet the difference is noticable. Now that i have listened to HD600 and HD650, i don't think i will go back to HD595. Just a suggestion, maybe you should save up more for the HD600, do it right in the first place, IMO the HD600 is a refined HD595. On the other hand, HD650 i feel a little different than HD595/HD600, you may or may not like it. But who knows, you may feel totally different than what i said.

Too bad there's not many European people selling stuff on the forums, and the postage costs from the United States just makes it too expensive to be worth it

I'd go for a HD600 or HD580. HD595 is clearly one step down from those and doesn't improve nearly as much with good amplification.

Depends on what music you listen to. The relaxed soundsignature of the 555s fit classical and acoustic performances well, imo. None of the senns that I've tried are basshead phones, but I can believe that the eleven year olds who listen to avenged sevenfold every day prefers a more "in your face" representation, which the 595s offer.

Personally, after spending time listening to the 595s, I became happier with my 555s. They sound so different that claiming one is "better" than another becomes a logical fallacy.

I never owned both of them, but in brief listening sessions at a local store 555s sounded alot more grainy and muffled than the 595... switching to the 595s after listening the 555s i instantly noticed a huge improvement in this aspect, so much that i can only say the 595s are much "better".

555s may be great value headphones but the jump up to 595 is significant IMHO.

Although ultimately everyone has different ears and preferences

I am with you. At least on the first point.
It would be nice if more Europeans joined the forum and started buying/selling gear.

Maybe us Europeans are just happier with our gear, and don' want to sell. It's been ages since I bought or sold anything on Head-Fi.

HD 555
510617 arceau 34,67 €
93573 bande arceau 4,73 €
512806 capsule 50 ohms droite 23,11 €
512807 capsule 50 ohms gauche 23,11 €
94738 Tour d'oreille, paire 17,33 €
94029 adaptateur 3,05 €
510626 câble 7,35 €

HD 595
510618 arceau 38,87 €
512806 capsule 50 ohms droite 23,11 €
512807 capsule 50 ohms gauche 23,11 €
94738 Tour d'oreille, paire 17,33 €
94029 adaptateur 3,05 €
510626 câble 7,35 €

This come from Sennheiser official french website (hope you understand), they are separate parts of the headphones.

Now i demand HOW can the HD595 sounds better than the 555 when they apparently share almost everthing except the casing ?

(PS : I just bought HD595, just wanna be reassured)

I did the same thing. As a way of celebrating me getting the apartment I wanted, I went out and listened to a pair of Grado SR325is. And took them home.

The 325is have the same separation you talk about, though aren't as wide in the soundstage.
