I just became enchanted a CD by The Mermen from the mid '90s, "A Glorious Lethal Euphoria". This San Francisco power trio was marketed as a kind of surf band for the '90s, and you can hear elements of some surf music of old (Dick Dale, not the Beach Boys) on this album of instrumental jams, with an engaging mix of Hendrix, late '60s SF psychedelia, and a seductively simple but deep melodicism. Jim Thomas, the Mermen's guitarist, is relentless but he does not waste a note. He also a master of feedback.
My question to those of you who are familiar with this recording is what other music is stylistically and qualitatively similar to the music on "A Glorious Lethal Euphoria"?
