I have the Nano>Tomahawk>E500...and while it sounds good, the EQ with my Zen V:M>Tomahawk>E500 combo kills the Nano in SQ! The EQ for the Nano is VERY limited. I am even contemplating selling it because I almost can't live with it. It sounds fine with the HD595's, but the rolloff on the highs with the E500's make the listening experience bad. I can't seem to find an EQ setting with the Nano that makes up for this. The synergy with the ZVM is Crazy good! But the ultra-portability of the Nano is tempting. If rockbox does not come out soon for the 'Nano, I may sell it!

You could become a Rockbox developer to help the ROCKbox team.
Did you checked rockbox website and forums?

It might take a while once the hardware of the 2nd genaration Nano is completely different from the others ipods. Thus it requires a new port implementation ...

not going to happen anytime soon, it needs some full time attention to decipher the firmware, which has been heavily encrypted, the first time apple has chosen to do that on an ipod.

which is really terrible because the nano is such an awesome platform!

You have essentially two choices:

1. Port Rockbox to the second generation Nano yourself.

Or,

2. Wait until someone else does so. Which could be a long time.

Then why not get the iRiver h320 and upgrade the battery so that it gets around 24 hours of playtime. (Oh, and it's Rockbox'able) You can probably snag one for around $100-$150
