Hi folks. In 1990 I bought an HD 560 Ovation. I have reworked my stereo this year except for headphones/amp/cord. Is there a significant diff. between HD560 and HD600? I know I should audition them but I am SOOOOO tired of going into stereo stores, that I have decided to do everything possible online before going into one.

BTW, my system is a Heart CD6000 with Amperex Bugle Boy 1960 tubes. The character of the system is upper midrange forward, as is typical with genuine old Bugle Boys. I am looking into headphone amps but have not decided yet. The only thing I am sure of after rolling six pairs of tubes through the Heart is that I absolutely will not use tubes in the headphone amp.

Thanks for your input.

HI: You could consider the the senn. 580 that dont need high end source or high end amp and are 90-95 percent of the 600 senn.

Hmmm, the hd600s would be a pretty big step up from the 560s. But keep both! The 560s are legendary. Like the above poster said, the 580s will offer about 90-95% of the 600s. They will, however, benefit from a higher end source/amp as well.

I hope that no one will be too offended if I state that, for my taste, the 580s are slightly better than the 600s.... a shade brighter, a shade punchier, a shade less smooth, and a shade more analytical... might have been my imagination, but that's how I heard it.
