I have been using it a headphone amp/dac and also in my audio system as a dac. I have connected it to my CDP with the digital input and then connect the outputs to my home preamplifier input CDP RCA jacks. Here's where I feel stupid.

I have started downloading musical tracks of CD's I don't want to wait for. How do I connect my laptop to the ifi to play those flac tracks through my audio system?

Your laptop should have a music player in its software. Windows Media Player or iTunes (and there are assorted other players like Foobar2000, VLC Player and on and on).

Connect the iFi to a USB port. Make sure your computer detects it under Settings (Windows)/Sounds or (apple logo)/Preferences/Sound (Apple) and choose it as the output.

Click on a FLAC track and see if your player opens automatically. If not open the player and drag in the files you want to play.
