And that dream is:

MHDT Havana -- RSA Raptor -- HD 800.

Does this dream sound good?

And do you also think that everyone should make a thread of their dream rig?

CC: I read someone impression saying the raptor turns the current HD 650 into an 'operatic star' - so I'm supposing it's a good match.

vvanrij:
It's merely a lighthearted thread - I was more interested in finding out the synergy of this combination/or sharing thoughts on fellow headfi's who might be interested in this, or a similar combo, rather than going on a mindless drivel. If the thread is not to your favour, there's always thousands of others here you can read

If the Mods feels it's pointless, they may remove it as they like.

And so it begins... no just kidding.

Dream rig: NAD C542->SPL Phonitor->PS-1000
NAD C542->Blue Hawaii->SR-007

As I am quite new... my dream is gonna seem less awesome than others >_>
But I also plan on accomplishing my dream. It's less of a dream and more of a plan.

foobar2k -> Balanced Buffalo DAC -> Balanced Beta22 -> HD600/HD650.

Hehe all dreams are good.

I've heard that the Raptor works more like a SS amp rather than tube one, would it then be a good match for the tubey Havana? - none with this combination at all?

Why get a tube amp that sounds just like a SS amp.

Just so everyone is not confused, the Raptor has dozen's of gain tube options and they all sound different, from Thick and rolled off to even and thin like a solid state amp and everything in between. Then you can multiply all those different sounds by a ton of different driver tubes. The Raptor can have any sound signature you want. All that "Raptor sounds Solid State" crap is a bunch of monkey see monkey do BS.

For the OP, you don't need a dac with a tube output section. A dac with selectable up-sampling modes or selectable filters would be much more useful.

Audio-gd Reference 3, Audio-gd C2C Amp. Save the rest of the money for a speaker system.

Dream rig: iPod ----> Grado SR80s ----> sittin' on the dock at my family's cottage with a beer or three.

Guess how I spent my last summer?
