DT770s! They beat the M50 in every single area. Have owned all the V Moda headphones they are junk especially the M100!

Someone mentioned the Yamaha Pro 500 these are excellent.

Just bought some AKG K612 that should be here tomorrow. Reviews are very good and they are often compared to the natural sound of HD600 for significantly less.

Don't buy V-moda xs unless you really like the look and build. Basically equivalent to beats solo 2's, but get more love from audiophiles for whatever reason.... I'd suggest AKG Q701's or K702's... Of course, you'd have to buy at least an O2 or FiiO E12 amplifier for them. The hd598? Meh. Good, just not for me. Can't say anything about Beyerdynamic. Haven't heard em. Ath-m50x's are a little overpriced imo. They should be around 75$ for the sound quality they have.

that's what they are supposed to compete with lol. make sure to amp them well... They actually are harder to drive than the HD650 or hd600. Average impedance ratings from goldenears.net are 210 ohms... Much higher than the 120 ohms akg claims. :-\
