stole a few minutes in cubeland to read Joe's 12AX7/5751 piece yet again. just got a Raytheon from tubeworld, so, of course, i had to start swapping the (still small) collection.

in his top group he talks about an odd RCA, with metal clips on the plate nubs at the micas. he goes on to say very nice things about the tube.

so i get home to swap out a GE BP/3 that i got from a head-fi'er for the one that Dr. Peppard had sent along with my HD. glory be!!! it's got the clips!! Joe does assert that a GE isn't just a re-labeled RCA. well, coincidence??? who knows? this is a 1958 tube. i really ought to have listened to La Madre: pay attention you twerp.

"Security" is playing, thus removing any skepticism about the K501 bass. the drum sections vibrate my head; and this at moderate volume, by which i mean the vocal isn't louder than Gabriel being in the room.

ah, Nirvana. (the place, not the folk)
