In an effort to satisfy my curiosity I finally did it. I removed the wood covers on my Audeze LCD-XC, essentially making them open back.
If after some listening I am pleased with the results , I'll start designing an open back plate to screw on in place of the wood cup. I'll then be able to switch between closed and OB with 8 screws.
Why?......just because
