I can only select the 44.1 and 48KHz values in Session Settings for the E-MU 0404 card. 96 and 192 is grayed out. Does anyone have a clue to why they 96 and 192 values are locked?

Also which is better under I/O setting S/PDIF Format... S/PDIF or AES/EBU?

AES/EBU is the professional counterpart of S/PDIF. You can use it if the piece of equipment receiving the signal can understand the protocol. I would imagine it is better in some ways, but don't know whether it is relevant in regular 2 channel playback.

You need to open a new session and specify the higher birtrate then.
